Functions & Modular Coding Games (Ages 8–10)

Custom Subroutines & Reusable Code Blocks — Modular subroutines • Custom blocks • Abstraction & Decomposition

About the Functions & Modular Coding Games (Ages 8–10) Track

Functions and modular logic represent the pinnacle of early computer science education. In this track, children learn how to create named helper subroutines that can be called repeatedly throughout a program.

By decomposing complex multi-stage problems into discrete functions, students practice computational abstraction and code reusability.

Prepares older elementary and middle school students for advanced block coding platforms and introductory Python or JavaScript.
